Tourism in Riquewihr

Riquewihr, small Alsatian fortified city, abounds in hurdy-gurdies half-timbered houses, and masonries from which some date from the medieval time.

Dolder is a floret of the architecture of this periodof the Alsatian history. This tower belfry, still called the Tower of the Robbers with his Room of Tortures, shelters the museum of Local History.

Riquewihr also counts two other museums: the museum of the communication in Alsace located in the Castle of the Dukes of Wurtemberg and the Hansi museum.

With its typical and very flowered lanes, Riquewihr forms part of the Association of the Most beautiful Villages of France.

Located on the Wine trail of Alsace, Riquewihr is surrounded of vines from which one draws the wine which took part in its reputation. It counts in particular two Great Vintages: Sporen and Schoenenbourg, whose pieces are visible by traversing the Wine Path of the Great Vintages or in walk in the Small tourist Train.

Many wine growers propose visits of cellars with tasting. Many animations take seat all along the year, and free guided tours of the Hurdy-gurdy City are organized from the end of June to the beginning of September.

To be visited absolutely: the fortifications, the houses and run of which some date from the 13th century, the Tower belfry of Dolder, the Court of the Shepherds, the High Door... and Riquewihr in December, with its Christmas market with high colors and lights.
